In order to be a welcoming, inclusive and productive state in the changing demographic climate of our nation, Arkansas needs emerging leaders who understand the value and importance of diversity while working to combat bias, bigotry and racism at work and in the community.
OurState is Just Communities intensive three-day diversity initiative that brings together emerging community leaders from across Arkansas-who work in the sectors of business, non-profit, government, faith, healthcare, media and education-to interactively explore how they can help make our states's practices and culture more inclusive.
The OurState exerience is designed to help participants develop the skills necessary to address current and future issues of bias and bigotry within the context of our state's changing demographics. OurState participants leave the training with a personal plan of action and a collective plan of action to help build a better place to live for all Arkansans.
Through the generous sponsorship of Tyson Foods, Inc. and Alltel, OurState is a unique opportunity to build better leaders who take the kind of positive action that will impact Arkansas' human relations climate regarding diversity and inclusion in numerous institutions and communities across the state.
To be eligible to attend OurState, a participant must complete an application which must be received by the close of business on Friday, May 11, 2007. The workshop begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 and goes until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22.
